The 2009 California Senate

Not looking a whole lot less polarized than the Assembly:

Although I guess there are three senators who would qualify as moderates.  One of them is trying to become lieutenant governor.

  2. That would be Senator Typo (R-Whoops). Thanks for catching that. It was actually Patricia Wiggins, who is, in fact, a Democrat. I've fixed the chart.

  3. Without bridging, you can't compare Senate and Assembly polarization...

  4. Yes, true, but the overall pattern in the state Senate looks a lot more like that of the Assembly than it looks like, say, the 1969 U.S. Senate.
