Timing

Did the Tea Partiers really pick April 19th, the 15th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing, as a date to gather in state capitals to inveigh against the federal government? Really? I hope they're just completely ignorant of the date's significance, because the alternative is far worse.

I would imagine that they probably picked the date for the same reason that McVeigh did, rather than to commemorate McVeigh's deed, which is that it marks the Battles of Lexington and Concord in 1775 and thus the begin of the American Revolution

Gotta remember your historical causal chains. McVeigh chose that date to commemorate David Koresh's mass homicide at Waco. (begin kidding) The Jackbooted Thugs(TM) chose to storm Waco on that date to commemorate Lexington & Concord. (end kidding)

nice word choice of "inVEIGH" juxtaposed underneath Okalahoma City...subliminal WIN.

Thanks for picking up on that, Lori. Unfortunately, since you consciously noticed it, it rose above the subliminal. FAIL.

okay, juxtapositional WIN. Jeez, learn to take a compliment. And thanks for the opp to use juxtapose and its derivatives so many times...love that word.
